Blog post: ReMatch with Revolve

Fashion, trends, and style are cyclical, so it’s time to tell your mom to dig out those bell bottoms from the back of her closet—styles and silhouettes from two decades ago are officially making a comeback. But a lot has changed since then!

The fashion industry and the overall shopping experience have drastically evolved over the last 20 years. Today, shoppers can access almost any item from virtually any corner of the world with just the click of a button. The way we consume fashion is also shifting; people no longer rely on Vogue or traditional sources for inspiration. Today’s consumers are exploring many platforms, from social media influencers to global fashion blogs, to stay on top of the latest trends. For example, roughly 58% of TikTok users also use TikTok shop, or other affiliate marketing links. Today’s shopper is driven by more than just style; they’re seeking value through great deals and are increasingly conscientious about the environmental impact of their purchases. With sustainability becoming a key factor in decision-making, consumers are demanding smarter, more responsible ways to shop.

As a result, fashion retailers face the challenge of staying relevant in a fast-paced, ever-evolving market. The integration of AI is playing a key role in this transformation, helping brands anticipate customer preferences and deliver personalized experiences that keep pace with the demand for both convenience and sustainability.

The future of fashion is here, and it’s more innovative, sustainable and perfectly tailored to your style. Revolve is excited to roll out its new AI-Driven Wardrobe Planner, ReMatch. It’s a new in-app feature which helps you optimize your wardrobe while keeping it fresh, stylish and sustainable. ReMatch takes personal shopping to the next level. By signing into the app with the email you use for past purchases and uploading pictures of your current wardrobe favorites, the app will suggest new pieces from Revolve’s collections that complement what you already own. This isn’t just about buying new things. It’s about rethinking how you shop, re-wearing your favorite items and keeping your wardrobe updated with the perfect additions.

The planner includes an optional Body Type extension, where users can submit a picture of themselves in a sports bra and biker shorts. The AI will process the image and suggest clothing that accentuates their body type for the most flattering fit. Additionally, you can set up an Event Toggle to plan outfits for upcoming events. Adding a link or flyer to the app will curate a personalized outfit that fits your style and ensures it arrives in time for the event. With the Inspo Board feature, users can create a visual collection of their desired style aesthetics, helping the app curate even more accurate outfit recommendations. This service speaks directly to today’s shoppers, who are more conscious about sustainability and intentional purchasing. By encouraging customers to re-wear and repurpose what they already own, Revolve is promoting a more sustainable approach to fashion. At the same time, the hyper-personalized suggestions and convenient event planning make it easy to refresh your style without excess waste.

This isn’t just about updating your closet, it’s about making more mindful, personalized and sustainable choices. Revolve is pushing the boundaries of fashion technology while helping customers feel good about their purchases. With ReMatch by Revolve, you can become Cher Horowitz at the push of a button.

Speech

Speech for Mike Karanikolas, the Co-Director of ReMatch by Revolve:

  • Good afternoon, everyone thank you for coming out to our event today to celebrate the future of AI assisted fashion!
  • I am so excited to be here to introduce ReMatch, our new AI-driven Wardrobe Planner in the Revolve app.
  • Every year the average American disgards an estimated 81.5 pounds of clothing. This results in approximately 11.3 million tons of textile waste annually. This discarded clothing often ends up in landfills or incinerated. [Pause]
  • We believe that with the help of artificial intelligence, we will be able to create a more sustainable future in fashion. One that inspires people to rewear, rethink, and rematch high quality clothing for a longer lifespan.
  • That is why Revolve created ReMatch.
  • What is ReMatch? A smart, sustainable shopping tool that helps you optimize your wardrobe.
  • …On average, people only wear about 20% of their clothes regularly. This means that 80% of the clothing in a typical closet goes unworn. [Pause]
  • Upload images of your existing clothes and get curated outfit recommendations from Revolve inventory that complement what you already own.
  • Fashion constantly evolves, and we need a smarter, more sustainable way to shop.
  • Encourages re-wearing and refreshing existing items, reducing over-consumption.
  • Users can upload a photo for personalized, flattering outfit recommendations.
  • With the event toggle you can input event details, and get an outfit curated for the occasion, shipped on time.
  • … put together an inspo board and create a mood board of your style preferences, and get recommendations based on your aesthetic.
  • ReMatch helps users make more mindful, intentional fashion choices.
  • Revolve continues to lead with innovation and sustainability.
  • We are excited for our customers to experience ReMatch and be part of the future of fashion.

Dear Leah,

I want to let you know that AI is now taking over the world of fashion from your back pocket. You don’t need to ask friends for help when it comes to putting outfits together anymore, now AI can help.

I wanted to introduce you to an exciting new app from Revolve that will captivate and excite your audience at Vogue. As a digital style director, you know the growing importance of combining fashion and technology, and Revolve’s new AI-driven wardrobe Planner, ReMatch, is a perfect blend of both.

Imagine if you could channel Cher Horowitz from the hit 90’s film Clueless but with the added benefit of sustainability. That’s precisely what this new tool offers! Revolve’s ReMatch allows users to upload photos of their current wardrobe and instantly receive curated outfit recommendations from Revolve’s collection that complement their existing pieces. But it doesn’t stop there; this cutting-edge technology is packed with other outfit-changing options!

The Body Type Toggle, which allows users to have the option to upload a photo to receive style recommendations tailored specifically to their body type. AI is here to help you get the perfect fit for you.

By adding event details, like a party flyer or invitation, to the event planning toggle, ReMatch curates the perfect outfit for the occasion, ensuring it’s shipped in time. You can also upload photos of your existing wardrobe to have an outfit tailored around the pieces you already own. This is where sustainability meets AI; Revolve and ReMatch are combining the digital age with conscious fashion consumption.

ReMatch and recycle your Wardrobe with Revolve, users can create mood boards to inspire and define their personal style, which the app then uses to suggest how to style existing pieces and the perfect additional pieces for their wardrobe.

Given the growing trend toward conscious shopping and the increasing demand for personalized fashion experiences, this tool perfectly aligns with what your readers are looking for. Revolve’s commitment to sustainability and tech-forward shopping sets a new precedent for how we engage with fashion, and this feature puts power back into the hands of the consumer, helping them make more thoughtful wardrobe choices.

Join us for a runway mixed vintage event at the Revolve launch party, Friday, June 10 at 2 PM, at the Good Fortune Gallery, 620 Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014. I’d be happy to share more details or arrange an interview with our CEO to discuss how Revolve is shaping the future of sustainable, personalized fashion.
